The US Forest Service provides an excellent guide to the history and life history of the invasive gypsy moth. This site also includes information on management practices and the caterpillar's impact on the environment. The gypsy moth is an excellent example of an introduced species which can quickly become an invasive species and wreak havoc on foreign ecosystems where there are no natural predators.
