Classroom Earth (www.classroomearth.org) is an online resource designed to help high school teachers include environmental content into their daily lesson plans. Useful resources on the site include:

In the News
Use this resource to find environmental news article(s) to connect to your classroom content. News articles on Classroom Earth are linked to suggested curricula.

Where in the World
This section offers geographically-based environmental information, plus resources for incorporating geographically-based topics into your lessons.

Find your Course
Classroom Earth offers several ways to find resources for your use:

  • Use the Browse Resources by Subject lists in the green box on the Home page to navigate to content-specific resources. 
  • Look for many traditional high school courses identified on the right sidebar of Subject Area Pages and the Resource Library dev.classroomearth.org/resources. If your course isn’t specifically listed choose one that is closely related.
  • Look for course-specific resources through links on the Resource Library.


Browse the Resource Library
There are several ways to search for a specific resource:

  • Choose the Subject Area and Topic in the blue and green boxes in the center of the page.
  • Choose criteria using the drop down menu in the top right hand column of the page.
    • Example: You can search for a Video on Climate, an AP Environmental Science Lesson Plan, or an Algebra lesson that connects to Geography.
  • The key term box on the drop down menu will offer suggested search terms for specific topic categories for resources. Type a few letters in the box to see some matching choices.
  • You may also use the keyword search at the top right hand corner of the Web page to search for what you need.


Join the Site

By joining Classroom Earth you can comment and rate resources in the Resource Library and submit stories of successful high school environmental education.  Members will also receive a monthly email with high school environmental tips and news.


Look at Success Stories
The projects of other teachers can offer inspiration. Browse the Success Stories to look for ideas that interest you.

Explore Funding Opportunities
Teaching about the environment does not require funding, but if you have a creative idea that needs funding, or want to allow an opportunity to enrich your skills, browse the funding resources.  Grants with upcoming deadlines will be listed on the home page.

Discover Professional Development Opportunities
Are you looking for professional development opportunities to help you learn more about how to include environmental content in your classroom lessons? Look for tabs at the top of the home page or links in the bottom right hand corner. All professional development trainings are appropriate for high school teachers.
