Schoolyard Habitat Program
The Schoolyard Habitat Program helps teachers and students create a naturalized wildlife habitat for classroom field studies and observations. The Program provides technical and organizational assistance to schools to create outdoor classrooms that are effective as educational tools and sustainable habitats. Qualified schools or organizations serving K-12 students are eligible for funding and may receive up to $8,000 for projects.
The NEA Foundation provides grants to improve the academic achievement of students in U.S. public schools and public higher education institutions in any subject area. Any practicing U.S. teacher, counselor, or education support professional employed by a public school, including public higher education institutions, is eligible to apply for a grant from the Foundation.
The Mountaineers Foundation promotes the study of mountains, forests, and streams of the Pacific Northwest, and contributes to preserving its natural beauty and ecological integrity. The organization funds modest short-term projects consistent with those purposes, with a maximum grant normally at $5000.
Disney Friends for Change Grants offer young change-makers an opportunity to receive a $1,000 grant to help make a lasting, positive change in the world. Disney, together with Youth Service America (YSA), is proud to offer Disney’s Friends for Change Grants to help kids that are making environmentally friendly changes in their communities. Disney’s Friends for Change is a program that encourages kids everywhere to take steps together with their friends to help the planet.
The NEA Foundation – Nickelodeon Big Help Grants are available in the form of Student Achievement grants to K-8 public school educators. The Big Help Grants program is dedicated to the development and implementation of ideas, techniques, and approaches for addressing four key concerns – environmental awareness, health and wellness, students’ right to a quality public education, and active community involvement. Public school educators are eligible to apply for individual grants worth up to $5,000 for the development and implementation of ideas, techniques and approaches for teaching "green" concepts.
DoSomething.org is calling on students to green their schools. Students who make the biggest effort to reduce their school's carbon footprint could win up to $1,500 to further their efforts. Schools are eligible for a first-place prize of a $1,500 grant and a banner, a plaque, an eco-friendly gift bag, and a chance to be visited by the biotour bus. Three $500 second place prizes will also be awarded.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Leadership in Science Education Prize for High School Teachers recognizes high school science teachers for the development and implementation of innovative methods for teaching and encouraging the next generation of scientists. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize to support the development and continuation of the strategy, activity or program.
