The Indonesia-US Youth Leadership Exchange (IULX) offers high school students a practical, hands-on experience in environmental action planning and leadership development. This two-way exchange will focus on community activism to address local and regional environmental issues in the U.S. and Indonesia.The IULX initiative highlights young people as our future leaders and as valuable contributors to their communities.

Members of the environmental community and Green Giant are recognizing individuals making a giant difference in communities across the country.  The Green Giant Awards program celebrates and rewards smart environmental initiatives in four categories: green civic leader, green entrepeneur, green local organizer and green parent.

The competition is open to young people around the world aged between 13 and 16 years.  Teams must consist of between two to five young people with one adult as supervisor.  Projects can focus on any environmental subject that young people have found interesting and will be published on the Volvo Adventure website, where the best projects are selected for the international final - an all-expenses-paid trip to Sweden.
 

The 2011 Thacher Environmental Research Contest, sponsored by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, challenges high school students (grades 9-12) to conduct innovative research on our changing planet using the latest geospatial tools and data, which in recent years have become increasingly accessible to the public.

Since 1971, the President of the United States has joined with EPA to recognize young people across the U.S. for protecting our nation’s air, water, land, and ecology. It is one of the most important ways EPA and the Administration demonstrate commitment to environmental stewardship efforts created and conducted by our nation’s young people.

The Spirit of Innovation Awards program challenges teams of high school students to create innovative products using science, technology, and entrepreneurship to solve 21st century, real-world problems.

Projects supported by the John Ball Zoo Society have helped conserve wildlife and wild places in more than 30 countries. Many projects funded by the Wildlife Conservation Fund have been education based with an eye to helping communities learn about the wildlife around them.

The Mountaineers Foundation promotes the study of the mountains, forests and streams of the Pacific Northwest, and contributes to preserving its natural beauty and ecological integrity. They fund modest, short-term projects consistent with those purposes, with a maximum grant normally at $5000.
