Indonesia-U.S. Youth Leadership Exchange

The Indonesia-US Youth Leadership Exchange (IULX) offers high school students a practical, hands-on experience in environmental action planning and leadership development. This two-way exchange will focus on community activism to address local and regional environmental issues in the U.S. and Indonesia.The IULX initiative highlights young people as our future leaders and as valuable contributors to their communities.

ING Unsung Heroes

Are you an educator with a class project that is short on funding but long on potential?  Do you know a teacher looking for grant dollars?  ING Unsung Heroes® could help you turn great ideas into reality for students.
 
For more than 10 years, and with $3.0 million in awarded grants, ING Unsung Heroes has proven to be an A+ program with educators.  The program’s “alumni” have inspired success in the classroom and impacted countless numbers of students.  Each year, 100 educators are selected to receive $2,000 to help fund their innovative class projects.  Three of those are chosen to receive the top awards of an additional $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000.

The Volvo Adventure

The competition is open to young people around the world aged between 13 and 16 years.  Teams must consist of between two to five young people with one adult as supervisor.  Projects can focus on any environmental subject that young people have found interesting and will be published on the Volvo Adventure website, where the best projects are selected for the international final - an all-expenses-paid trip to Sweden.

Thacher Environmental Research Contest

The 2011 Thacher Environmental Research Contest, sponsored by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, challenges high school students (grades 9-12) to conduct innovative research on our changing planet using the latest geospatial tools and data, which in recent years have become increasingly accessible to the public.

The John Ball Zoo Society's Wildlife Conservation Fund

Projects supported by the John Ball Zoo Society have helped conserve wildlife and wild places in more than 30 countries. Many projects funded by the Wildlife Conservation Fund have been education based with an eye to helping communities learn about the wildlife around them.

The Mountaineers Foundation

The Mountaineers Foundation promotes the study of the mountains, forests and streams of the Pacific Northwest, and contributes to preserving its natural beauty and ecological integrity. They fund modest, short-term projects consistent with those purposes, with a maximum grant normally at $5000.
