Wildife Conservation Society's Teacher Professional Development

The Education Division of WCS offers a wide range of professional development opportunities for teachers. Whether on-site at one of the WCS parks across the city, online from the comfort of your home, or through WCS partnerships, teachers can earn credit as they learn how to connect to wild nature. Teacher courses are held at the Bronx Zoo, New York Aquarium, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, and Prospect Park Zoo. WCS courses for teachers of grades K–12 help bring a new dimension to your lessons, whether you teach science, math, language arts, or anything in between!

The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education Professional Development


The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education offers professional development to educators and administrators, ranging from one day workshops to five year initiatives. Their programs include Sustainability and Sustainability Education, Economics and Business/Entrepreneurship, Civics and Participatory Democracy, and Design and Change. Sessions are delivered at schools, teacher centers, conference sites and their office in New York City throughout the year.

The Keystone Center Professional Education and Leadership Programs


The Keystone Center’s Professional Education and Leadership programs work with educators to improve science education and instill a better understanding of the natural world in students. These training sessions and professional development institutes address topics such as bringing environmental issues to the classroom, investigating climate change, relating sustainability to chemistry and relating sustainability to service-learning projects.

Earth Partnership for Schools


Earth Partnership for Schools (EPS) is a program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum. EPS assists teachers in establishing restoration projects on school sites and provides tools for building a curriculum that incorporates restoration into any subject area. The program includes summer institutes and ongoing support from UW-Madison Arboretum staff to help with restoration planning and curriculum development. Institutes are held at numerous national locations throughout the summer.

Astronomy from the Ground Up


Online workshops for science educators offer fun and innovative techniques to introduce astronomy and astronomy current events into your classroom. Thanks to support from the National Science Foundation, Astronomy from the Ground Up provides these free workshops online or on site. Upcoming workshops include Sky Rangers Online Workshop for Outdoor Astronomy Interpretation (January 23 - March 16, 2012) and Daytime Astronomy: Interpreting Our Magnetic Sun (April 30 - May 11, 2012).
