Windows on the Wild is the environmental education curriculum developed in 1996 by the World Wildlife Fund, a leading international wildlife conservation organization. The curriculum includes a series of modules designed mainly for middle school, but is adaptable to other grade levels. The modules, focusing on wildlife and biodiversity, were developed in consultation with educators and environmental scientists nationwide. Windows on the Wild relies on schools working with zoos, museums, nature centers and botanical gardens.
Windows on the Wild focuses on grades 5-8 with activities adaptable to other grade levels.
Since students have a strong natural interest in the wildlife, understanding about biodiversity and the web of life is an effective way to create broader environmental knowledge.
Windows on the Wild:Windows on the Wild is packaged as a series of middle school modules on key topics including Biodiversity Basics, Biodiversity Debate, and Exploring Issues, as well as many others.
Teachers have described Windows on the Wild as thought-provoking, extensive, offering a unique set of topics for modules, and well-written.
