Government Programs is a listing of environmental education programs, materials, or lesson plans provided by the government agencies. The government program section is broken into two parts - Federal Agencies and State and Local Programs. The federal agencies section gives listings to any national federal agency that has an environmental education program or curriculum. The State and Local Programs section is a link to state environmental education associations through the EE-link website.

Learning Landscapes is a website produced and maintained by the Environmental Education and Volunteers Group of the Bureau of Land Management, which is an agency of the US Department of the Interior that manages 261 millions acres of public lands. BLM has gathered information for students, teachers, and adult learners to use both in the classroom, in informal outdoor settings, or in "virtual" classrooms. The resources on this website are taken from a variety of BLM-produced materials, such as posters, outdoor activities, magazine articles and education guides. They cover a range of topics from science to social studies and math and can be used in lesson plans and curricula.

Learning Web is part of the website for the US Geological Survey, which is the sole science agency for the US Department of the Interior. This website is dedicated to K-12 education and lifelong learning by exploring things on, in, around, and about the Earth, such as land, water, plants, animals, and maps. The "Students" section includes project ideas and homework help, the "Teachers" section includes lesson plans and activities for teachers to use in the classroom, and the "Explorers" section has resources for anyone who is curious about natural science.

The Office of Environmental Education is designed to advance and support education efforts to develop an environmentally conscious and responsible public and inspire personal responsibility in caring for the environment. The Office of Environmental Education has four major programs: grants, educator training, student fellowships, and environmental awards. You can also link to the agency's web sites for students and teachers which are designed to provide resources for incorporating environmental education into the classroom or informal setting. Each site includes a variety of lesson plans, activities, and other resources.

This Education Center website is managed and maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers, which is the government agency designed to provide assistance with engineering and construction of projects throughout the world. This site is for students, teachers, librarians, and other educators to access the many educational resources of the US Army Corps of Engineers. There are activities, lesson plans, and basic informational sheets to use either online or in a classroom setting for environmental topics such as Disaster Response, Engineering & Construction, Environmental Protection, Navigation Recreation, Research & Development, and Water Resource Management. There is also access on this Education Center website to the Young Engineers' Club Fun Science Experiments.

The Education Center for the Natural Resources Conservation Service is a website which contains conservation education materials for teachers in grades K-12. It is managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, which is a program of the US Department of Agriculture and provides leadership in a partnership effort to help people conserve, maintain, and improve natural resources and the environment. The conservation education materials on this website include soil science education publications and activities, backyard conservation lesson plans and activities, a downloadable history of conservation education, and a PLANTS Database, which is a single source of standardized information about plants throughout the country.

The Conservation Education program of the Forest Service helps people of all ages understand and appreciate our country's natural resources and learn how to conserve those resources for present and future generations. This website provides materials, curricula and activities concerning forest, grassland and aquatic ecosystems, and the interrelationships within natural systems and between people and the land. Curriculum focuses on grades K-12 with links to additional resources for students, teachers, and other environmental educators. The Forest Service conservation education program also provides educational materials and fun games and activities in support of the Smokey Bear Wildlife Prevention campaign and the Woodsy Owl environmental awareness program.

LearnNPS is the website that provides links to educational information related to the National Park Service's mission of natural resource stewardship, preservation, and the protection of park natural resources. It is designed to help teachers searching for classroom materials, students doing research, or anyone else looking for a place to spend some time, have some fun and learn about environmental education in the process. LearnNPS includes curriculum, fun activities and games, a guide to park Junior Ranger programs and a host of other fun and educational media created by the National Park Service and it's partners.

NOAA, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, has many educational activities distributed across the agency, which was created to understand and predict changes in the Earth's environment and conserve and manage coastal and marine resources to meet the Nation's economic, social, and environmental needs. This site has been designed to help students, teachers, librarians and the general public access the many educational activities, publications, and booklets that have been produced by NOAA. The Education Resources have been separated into 3 categories: Primarily for Teachers, Primarily for Students, and Cool Sites for Everyone. The teachers section includes items designed for teachers to use in the classroom or as background reference material; the students section includes activities and learning materials for kids in grades K-5, students in grades 6-12 and higher education opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

The Education Gateway of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of the California Institute of Technology, which is committed to education at all levels. Classroom activities on this website include Galileo K-12 Educator's Resources, lesson plans focusing on earth and space science for grades 5-12, a Space Science Curriculum Standards "Quilt", and Telescopes in Education.
Partners in Resource Education (PRE) is a unique partnership of five federal agencies and a non-profit foundation working to link students, teachers and parents to their lands. Collectively, the agencies are responsible for the stewardship of Federally owned public lands comprising approximately one-third of the acreage of the United States. Through its various hands-on education programs and special initiatives, PRE enhances learning and promotes resource conservation and understanding of ecosystems through education.
The Federal members of PRE are Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service and the USDA Forest Service. The National Environmental Education & Training Foundation coordinates this effort. The US Environmental Protection Agency and other public and private community partners offer financial and other support.
